If you were called to work with kambo, I am now offering ceremonies in Pisac, Peru. Please read about it below if you don’t know enough. There’s also a book “Sapo in my soul” by Peter Gorman that dives deeper into science and history of this sacred medicine, it can be found on Amazon.com. When you are ready you can contact me through the site or whatsapp +5196399309 and we can meet up for an introduction talk to see if you feel safe with me and to discuss your intention and needs.

Please read the contraindications before you consider having the ceremony. It’s important that you are aware what conditions and medications kambo peptides are not compatible with.

At the beginning and at the end of the ceremony I also offer complimentary hapey. It’s up to you whether you want to receive it or not. If you are not familiar with it, you can read about hapey ceremony here.

If you are curious about the training I went through you are welcome to read my blog post about it. I trained with Kambo Naturista in October 2018 and I am registered as a practitioner on www.kambonaturista.com. If you want to talk to other people who have received kambo, you are welcome to join our kambo community on Facebook.

Kambo, Sapo or Acate are just a couple of names for a traditional natural remedy that is used by various indigenous tribes of the Amazon. It consists of the skin secretions of the South American nocturnal tree frog (the latin name is Phyllomedusa bicolor).Because of its potent effect on the whole human organism, the Kambo-frog treatment has been used for ages in the Amazon area. The local tribesmen traditionally use it for:

  • Healing and cleansing of the body
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Spiritual and mental clarity
  • Luck and zest of life.

The Kambo secretion based on human use was first researched and described by western scientists John Daly, Vittorio Erspamer and their team, published in 1992.Vittori Erspamer already published an article based on his studies of peptides in Phyllomedusa skin “a huge factory and store-house of active peptides” in 1985.Those bio active peptides are also the reason why the pharma-industry is so interested in it, developing a new medication from one of the peptides could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars and there are already several patents existing on some of the peptides. Here are some of the peptides found in the secretion: adenoregulins, bradykinins, tachykinins, caerulein, sauvagine, tryptophyllins, deltorphins, dermaseptins, dermorphins, phyllocaeruleın and bombesins.

The Kambo frog aka “Giant waxy monkey tree frog” lives in the trees and has not much to fear about natural enemies. You can hear the mating call he produces as soon as it gets dark, when imitating that sound he would respond to it, especially when raining and around the new moon, thereby it is easily to locate him.Often times one would need to climb  a high tree to get the frog. As the frogs do not try to escape, it is very easy to get them move on to a large wooden stick or branch from where they can be transported to the place where then the extraction will happen.

We observed in many cases that Kambo detoxes the body, strengthens the immune system and activates self-healing within the body. It is a natural antibiotic, antiviral and antifungal and thereby kills bacteria, viruses and fungi. It is anti-inflammatory, cleans the blood and can improve general well-being.Studies show that some peptides in the Kambo can be very effective in dealing with Alzheimer, Parkinsons Disease, infertility, hepatitis, cancer, AIDS and other serious conditions. Although there is no doubt of the wide range of uses of Kambo, it is necessary to find the right treatment specific to each person and condition. The regularity of treatments and correct  dosage are also vital in order to have the most continuous beneficial effects. There has been no modern clinical research done on humans to illustrate its curative nature. This is why we need to be patient before officially calling Kambo a medicine, however there is a large number of people that have experienced the potency of the Kambo which is good thing to acknowledge. We have seen Kambo help many people with a variety of conditions including allergies, skin diseases, asthma, rheumatism and joint disorders, chronic pain and infections, malaria, diabetes, hepatitis, epilepsy, depression, post chemotherapy, disease prevention and many more.

The tribesmen of the Amazon use this medicine to clear themselves from „panema“ (bad luck -negative energy). Kambo is a cleansing agent for it and after the treatment most people feel a strong optimism and clearness of the mind. They may feel recharged in strength and stamina and capable to achieve their goals. It is said that everything flows a bit better in the life after taking Kambo, because externally we always attract the thing that is going on internally. The Matses-tribesmen use Kambo for more luck when hunting in order to catch a big animal. In the Western culture we can use kambo to improve our everyday lives such as finding a job and being more successful in it, which could correspond to archaic desires of being the best hunter.

If the impression has arisen by now that Kambo can cure anything, one still has to consider that every human being is unique. The outcome of the treatments can vary in their effects as well as in the amount of time it may take to feel those effects. Everybody is different and so every session can be a bit different because Kambo works on many levels and is unique in its translation. It is very important to not compare Kambo with conventional medicines. In our opinion to gain true long term benefits of healing, one often has to make healthy lifestyle changes in addition to the treatment. It is not truly  beneficial to take Kambo and continue an unhealthy lifestyle because the problem that has been treated would most likely present itself again.

Cleansing the space with cedar…

It is advisable to stick to a light diet some days prior to the treatment – you should stay away from deep fried, spicy food or food that is hard to process. Furthermore you should renounce, alcohol, drugs (if not in a case of addiction) and sexual activities. This can help to have a much deeper cleansing and benefit more from the treatment. Kambo has the best effect if you use it on an empty stomach. Therefore you should not consume any solid or liquid food for around 12 hours before the treatment and drink only water. During the treatment it is also advisable to wear comfortable clothes. It should be taken an account that the whole treatment may take around 2 hours and it is advisable not to have any commitments after the session as in some cases one may want to rest and have time for integration and processing.

Soaking the medicine…

Shortly before the treatment you have to drink around 2 litres of warm water, traditionally  some tribes would drink masato (a drink made out of the yuca root) or chapo (a drink made out of bananas). This will help you in the process of throwing up and it reduces the uncomfortable effects of the treatment.

After that a tamshi (a thin vine which is traditionally used to make baskets) or incense stick will be set on fire and blown out. The glowing end will be used to burn the skin superficially. This procedure will be performed on a body-area that gets selected beforehand. There will be several points burned into the skin (the number varies from person to person). After that the burned layer of skin will be removed and the secretion will be applied onto the wounds. For this purpose the secretion on the stick will be softened using a few drops of water and rolled into little balls. To each burn wound one of the balls will be applied. It has to be taken into account that depending on the skin type and the aftercare these burning marks may be visible for many months afterwards.

Preparing the medicine…

The effects will be noticeable shortly after the secretion is applied onto the burned area (usually after 1- 2 min). Rarely it might take a longer time, or the dose might have to be adjusted. The Kambo medicine goes straight into the lymphatic system and from there into the bloodstream. The effects can differ from person to person and from treatment to treatment. There is a wide range of symptoms that can be triggered by Kambo but never all at once or with the same intensity. In most cases, the first effect is that the blood flushes up into the head. This will be perceived as heat in the facial area and the rest of the body. Sometimes this can be accompanied by a fastening of the heart beat, very often followed by nausea and vomiting. Usually the water you drank before comes first, followed by a variety of slimy, milky, yellow, orange, green, dark green, brown or sometimes even black liquids and bile. There is also a need to defecate quite often. There will be often a swelling in the facial area and the neck region. The intensity of these swellings can vary, but in most cases it will subside relatively fast. Expectorant cough (especially when dealing with lung disease) can also occur. The treatment is often accompanied by sweating – this is just another way of how the body gets rid of toxins. Eye discharge, chills, cramps, dizziness, numbness in the hands and physical weakness can occur symptomatically. In some cases someone might feel a need to scream or cry in order to release emotional and energetic blockages. The symptoms might vary in quality and quantity depending on the individual, the area the medicine will work on and the dose. Usually the most intense part of the treatment will only take between 10 – 30 minutes and only in very few cases it might take a bit longer or a bit shorter.

Preparing the gates…

The positive effects of the Kambo can sometimes already be perceived straight after the treatment or in some cases it can also take until the next day one may feel an increased energy level, inner peace, clarity of mind and healing of the body. Some people report that their well-being improved from day to day, or in some cases that it even took up to two weeks for an improvement became noticeable and in some other cases it may take an other session to reach the desired positive effect.

The effects of Kambo always differs depending on the person and intervals of treatment.  Even though the effects of Kambo could sound unpredictable, it is best to keep in mind that it knows exactly what it does, where it needs to begin the process, how long it will take and what  is necessary for the patient.

When taken with an experienced or trained practitioner, the Kambo is very safe, although in some very rare cases the immune system may first drop down and the cleansing process may continue for a couple of days before one would experience the beneficial feelings of the medicine. This may happen after a very intense cleans or when there is a more serious illness to heal.In some cases, especially when one is having low blood pressure, the person may faint during the session and this is why it is necessary to provide a safe space for the treatment as well as having an experienced person facilitate the healing.FEELING LIKE THE FROGSome people consider the intense part during the session as a side-effect. We see the healing on an energetic level that when you take Kambo you get connected with the spirit of the frog and the sufferings of the extraction process.  This can be observed when working with this remedy in it’s natural environment. The symptoms originate from the connection to the frog and the process of „Milking“ he had to go through. When you take Kambo in the jungle or nature, you often sit down as a precaution because it is not uncommon to purge both ways at the same time . You support your body weight with your arms on the ground, similar to a frog. Some of the sounds you produce when throwing up even sound like the croaking of a frog, swelling of the facial area known as “frog face” is another indication,  and numbness in the hands can be connected to the frog  as the frog had its  its extremities tied during the extraction .All in all, you will go through a short “discomfort” during the treatment and excrete a lot of toxins through all pores and orifices. Even though you might feel weak after this process you will recover quickly very similar to the frog it self.

This can be  very individual depending on the persons needs and the health situation, so it is necessary to have a talk with the practitioner prior to treatment. In many cases one treatment can be sufficient to achieve some desired effects. Yet it is recommended to use Kambo more often than once, because Kambo cleanses our body layer after layer each time. There are several ways how  Kambo can be taken and they may vary from different tribes and practitioners, for example it can be taken in the form of a “Dieta”, for several days in a row (especially when dealing with bigger issues), once a week, twice in a month, for new moon or similar. In this way you reconnect to the previous treatment and experience an even deeper cleansing. In many cases you have to increase the dosage if the intervals between the treatments are short because Kambo stays in the system for some time carrying on its work. In case of a long interval between the treatments it is recommended to start again with a smaller dose and very often one will feel intuitively when it is the right time for the next Kambo treatment.
